Sif now stood tightly guarding Evenson, sword in one hand and shield in the other.

It was not because she had some awareness that melee fighters should protect ranged attackers. She had simply made up her mind that if Evenson made a move later, she would stay out of it. And if she entered the fight, Evenson had better keep his hands off.

Of course, it was not because she still cared about dueling etiquette like not casually interfering in someone else's battle. It was because Evenson's methods had left far too deep an impression on her.

That brat fought far too dirty. Who knew what tricks he would pull from the backline while she was bleeding it out on the front? Like the last time she fought the Destroyer, when a green thing suddenly fell from the sky. That green came so unexpectedly that it knocked her unconscious on the spot.

And then there had been that huge brawl between the Destroyer and Ghost Rider. Ghost Rider had been tanking at the front and was ready to take the Destroyer's ultimate head-on. But this guy instantly infected him and drained every bit of fire from his body. Though Evenson eventually killed the out-of-control Destroyer in one blow, Ghost Rider had ended up taking the Destroyer's ultimate with a mortal body. He was charred outside, tender within, and smelled delicious—he had nearly died on the spot.

With someone around who often hit the melee fighters along with the enemies, who would dare mess around at the front?

"Do you not look at your enemies when you're on the battlefield?" Just as Sif was about to ask who would be fighting this battle, she noticed Evenson looking left and right, his gaze wandering everywhere except toward the enemy. She immediately protested.
