Pierce had resigned himself to his fate. He cooperatively scanned his retina with Nick Fury, lifting the security protocol, then put on an expression of utter indifference. "Now what? I know you all want to kill me, so hurry up and do it."
As he spoke, he looked at Gabriel and said with considerable self-awareness, "I know I definitely can't make it into Heaven. I doubt you're in the mood to fly me up there either." Then he turned to Mephisto. "So I'm definitely going to Hell, right? Would you be willing to personally send me down? If the Demon Monarch personally sent me to Hell, that would truly be an honor."
"What an ego!" You bastard still wanted to carve up Hell's real estate? I can't even go back there, yet you want to go to Hell? Are you planning to usurp my throne?
"You're not supposed to die yet." Petrov sneered. "There's still so much information about Hydra stored in that head of yours. How could we bear to let you die?"
"Ah." Pierce sighed mournfully. If you wanted something done, you had to do it yourself. "Hail Hydra!"
With a sudden shout, before anyone could react, Pierce took a step, twisted at the waist, kicked himself in the backside with his heel, and sprinted at full speed. He flipped through the window in a swallow-like roll and leaped straight down—committing suicide by jumping off the building!
"No!" Mephisto looked horrified, as though his parents had died. He wanted to stop him, but it was already too late. He could only remain where he was, waving his hands uselessly as he accepted this painful reality.
