If they were told their boss was dead and the plan had gone bankrupt, would they surrender? What if every last one of them went berserk and decided to make one final, desperate stand?
Project Insight was gone now, but those massive cannons and superguns were very real. All they had to do was unleash a barrage at a densely populated area, and casualties would be everywhere. And even if they did not fire, those enormous ships only needed to turn toward a civilian district, fly overhead, and cut their engines. The crash alone would probably kill plenty of people.
