Background / History

The Tang Sect is an ancient organization whose legends extend from antiquity into the present. It maintains foundations across the Douluo Continent, Star Luo Empire, and Dou Ling Empire, but withdrew from public view to avoid attracting attention rather than truly disappearing. Its founder, Sea God Tang San, remains central to its identity and prestige 59.

Wu Zhangkong introduced the sect to his Eastsea Academy students through the Hall of Heroes, a Tang Sect-developed trial system. Tang Wulin and Xie Xie joined, while Gu Yue chose the Spirit Pagoda and Long Yuan refused every recruitment attempt 59 60.

After the bombing of Tang Sect Headquarters and Shrek Academy, Tang Sect branches began closing and the organization appeared to enter decline. Its hidden underground world, however, revealed that its deeper foundation remained intact. Soon afterward, Cao Dezhi and Zang Xin transferred the position of Tang Sect Master to Tang Wulin 282 332.

Under Tang Wulin, the Tang Sect publicly declared war on the Spirit Pagoda after evidence emerged of the latter's cooperation with the Holy Spirit Cult. Tang Wulin subsequently negotiated cooperation agreements with the Dou Ling Empire and Star Luo Empire while using Tang Sect weaponry as leverage 345 349 351 352.

The sect suffered severe retaliatory losses: Long Yuan and Gu Yuena destroyed the Tang Sect branch in the Dou Ling Empire, while they later annihilated the Star Luo Empire branch and tainted its ruins with Destruction Power 346 363. The Federation subsequently branded the Tang Sect a Traitorous Organization, forcing it further underground 376 377.

Hall of Heroes

The Hall of Heroes is an advanced Tang Sect trial and training system. Its opponents are historical members of the Shrek Seven Monsters from across Tang Sect history, allowing candidates and members to fight simulations of legendary Soul Masters 58 59.

• Members can accumulate merits and use the Hall for later training. 58

Underground World

The Tang Sect maintains a secret underground world described as its greatest secret. Its existence demonstrated that the organization retained substantial hidden resources even after its visible branches shrank or vanished 332.

Ice Fire Yin Yang Well

The Ice Fire Yin Yang Well was a secret Tang Sect-controlled site associated with Immortal Herbs and the Ice Fire Dragon King Soul Bone. Entry could be granted through the Tang Sect Ice Fire Seal, a two-sided red-and-blue token offered by Zang Xin during his attempt to recruit Long Yuan 269.

The well later disappeared, provoking Tang Sect fury and suspicion toward the Spirit Pagoda 402.

Soul Guidance Industry

The Tang Sect’s principal sources of income include:

• Manufacturing and selling Soul Guidance weapons.
• Researching and developing Soul Guidance Technology.
• Controlling and allocating resources.
• Purchasing rare resources from the Dou Ling and Star Luo continents. 341

The sect also possesses advanced weaponry, including Heavy Weapons and the Godslayer-class Fixed Soul Cannon, Eternal Heaven Kingdom, which it retained for self-defense despite Federation demands for its return 351 656.

Membership, Training & Rules

Joining and Leaving

The Tang Sect and Spirit Pagoda are presented as mutually exclusive choices: joining one prevents joining the other. Departing the Tang Sect requires returning everything obtained from it, including cultivation techniques 60.

New members may receive the Mysterious Heaven Skill, while Tang Wulin also received access to Purple Demon Eyes through the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record 60 66.

Contribution Rewards

Tang Sect members can earn Contribution Points through missions and achievements.

• Tang Wulin, Xie Xie, and Xu Lizhi received 10,000 Contribution Points each after defeating the Sun Moon Royal Soul Master Academy.
• They were also allowed to select one Tang Sect ultimate art without charge. 155

Douluo Identities

Tang Sect Douluos use numbered badges rather than public identities, protecting members’ personal information. Tang Wulin used his Douluo attire and badge to enter the Star Luo City headquarters for a summoning order 211.

Protection of Secret Arts

Tang Sect ultimate arts are not permitted to be taught outside the sect. The organization treats unauthorized acquisition of such techniques as a serious violation; Tang Wulin stated that reclaiming a technique could mean making its user disappear 189 193.

Long Yuan’s use of Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track became a long-running dispute. He maintained that he learned it through observation in the Hall of Heroes before joining any organization, then combined it with Sky Phoenix Douluo Leng Yaozhu’s footwork to create Stealth Shadow Shatter 189 241.

Tang Sect members nevertheless pursued him after he joined the Spirit Pagoda, demanding that he either join the sect or “return” Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track. A Titled Douluo and Soul Douluo were sent to intercept him; Long Yuan killed both attackers 282 283.

Eastsea Recruitment

Wu Zhangkong used the Hall of Heroes assessment to recruit talented students. Tang Wulin joined out of admiration for Tang San and the sect’s legacy, while Xie Xie followed him 59 60.

Dragon Valley Operation

Tang Wulin received a Tang Sect Douluo Summoning Order and won one of thirty available slots in a selection contest for the Dragon Valley Operation 211.

Long Yuan’s Technique Dispute

Tang Sect repeatedly investigated Long Yuan for using Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track despite not being a disciple. Its attempts to force compliance escalated from questioning and recruitment offers to a failed assassination attempt 155 193 282 283.

Reconstruction and Diplomatic Expansion

After Tang Wulin became Sect Master, the Tang Sect relied on its underground foundation, diplomatic missions, weaponry, and ties to Shrek Academy to regain influence in the Dou Ling and Star Luo empires 332 349 352.

Traitorous Organization Designation

The Federation declared the Tang Sect a Traitorous Organization over its involvement with the Star Luo and Dou Ling empires. The sect later applied to have the designation revoked, but the Federation demanded military support in a new war as proof of loyalty 376 584.

Eternal Heaven Kingdom Crisis

Tang Sect retained Eternal Heaven Kingdom after obtaining it from the War God Hall. Its refusal to surrender the weapon without compensation caused renewed accusations that both the sect and Shrek Academy were traitorous organizations 656 657.
