After the opening ceremony, the students were taken back by their respective class teachers.

According to tradition, the next step was introductions within each class.

Uchiha Kiyoshi was once again dragged back to the classroom by Nawaki. Faced with Nawaki's enthusiasm, Uchiha Kiyoshi could only go along with it.

Still, with Nawaki's personality—while he was certainly likable—where was this? The Ninja World, where brutal war could break out at any time. This was a world that devoured people.

Someone with Nawaki's temperament would have a hard time surviving.

Of course, he was lucky enough to be born as the young master of the Senju Clan.

But even so, his careless nature would always bring him deadly danger. In the original story, falling into a pit full of Explosive Tags was a perfect example.

Perhaps Konoha's higher-ups had schemes involving him, but that kind of accident really wasn't man-made. The Konoha higher-ups were quite innocent to take the blame for it.

Back in class, Uchiha Kiyoshi took out his book again and began reading.

Although Nawaki kept asking him why, it didn't interfere with Uchiha Kiyoshi's reading. Wasn't multitasking just basic stuff?

Actually, it did not even count as multitasking. It was merely a simple application of attention—he only needed to be able to hear Nawaki while reading.

Besides, none of Nawaki's questions were difficult. He could answer them without much thought.

Once all the students were in their seats, the teacher finally arrived about half an hour later.

It was still the teacher who had come to notify them about the opening ceremony.

"Hello, everyone. From now on, I'll be responsible for teaching you theoretical knowledge and managing our class as well."

The middle-aged ninja first explained his position, then began introducing himself.

"My name is Uemura Naoki. I enjoy growing flowers, and my dream is to become an outstanding teacher. Please take care of me in the future."

As he spoke, Uemura Naoki bowed.

After straightening up, Uemura Naoki continued.

"All right, as usual, we need to get to know one another.

"I saw that everyone had already started getting acquainted earlier, but let's have formal introductions now.

"Just like I did, state your name, hobbies, and dreams. Of course, you can also mention what you're good at."

Seeing the lack of enthusiasm below, Uemura Naoki was not embarrassed. He used a teacher's special skill and directly called on someone.

"We'll start with this student, then proceed in order."

Uemura Naoki pointed at Uchiha Tao.

Uchiha Tao stood and gave his introduction.

Uemura Naoki gave Uchiha Tao his approval and motioned for the next student to introduce himself.

"My name is Osawa Ken. My hobby is drawing, and my dream is to become an artist."

"My name is Mano Tomoaki. My hobby is reading, and my dream is to write my own novel and have lots of people read it."

What followed were all kinds of introductions. Some liked sleeping, while others liked eating. Uchiha Kiyoshi could only complain inwardly—sure enough, there was nothing people could not come up with.

When it was Uchiha Kiyoshi's turn, he calmly stood up and delivered the speech he had prepared long ago.

"My name is Uchiha Kiyoshi. My hobby is training, and as for my dream, it's to keep living! Mm! That's all."

After saying that, Uchiha Kiyoshi sat down.

Uemura Naoki also felt a headache coming on after hearing that. The reason he had arrived half an hour late was because the Hokage had called him over to give him instructions, saying there were several problematic students in his class and hoping he would pay them extra attention.

Sure enough, this Uchiha Kiyoshi was quite a problem.

Training was a good hobby. But wanting to stay alive—was he serious? I might not have paid much attention to it otherwise, but the Hokage had specifically mentioned him. Combined with his tone and emotions when he spoke, he was clearly the timid, afraid-of-death type.

But before Uemura Naoki could catch his breath, Nawaki stood up and loudly announced his introduction.

"My name is Nawaki. My hobby is training—I couldn't think of anything else—and my dream is to become Hokage!"

As he spoke, Nawaki struck a pose, and he shouted the final part about becoming Hokage especially loudly.

Uemura Naoki felt exhausted again. There was nothing wrong with dreaming of becoming Hokage; lots of people did that. But did he have to shout so loudly? And don't stand on the desk. Besides, what was he so happy about? He had not become Hokage yet!

Sure enough, there was another problematic student. He definitely had eighth-grader syndrome.

"All right, everyone has finished introducing themselves, so I believe you've gained some understanding of one another.

"That's all for today. There are no classes scheduled for the afternoon, so you can go home. Just remember to come to school on time tomorrow.

"Oh, right. To assess everyone's level, I'll be giving you a simple test during the first class tomorrow."

After speaking, Uemura Naoki turned and left. He needed to go back and organize the information on this year's students. He had listened carefully to every introduction.

When Uchiha Kiyoshi heard that school was dismissed just like that, he was stunned. Was it really this casual? They went home after only half a day of class? What kind of arrangement was that?

So the lunch he had specifically brought was useless now?

Uchiha Kiyoshi quickly recovered. It was fine if there were no classes—he could use the extra time to do something else.

Mm! He would practice the Three Basic Techniques.

Although he had never extracted Chakra at full capacity, the amount of Chakra he possessed had still grown quickly.

During the special training period, he should be able to use the Three Basic Techniques.

Up until now, he had never formally practiced any proper Ninjutsu! This was the perfect opportunity to try, and also to verify his research on hand seals to see whether it worked—or rather, how effective it was.

After saying goodbye to Nawaki and returning home, Uchiha Kiyoshi took out his lunch and ate it in the kitchen.

After eating his fill, Uchiha Kiyoshi ran upstairs and found his father's training notes, which recorded the methods for practicing the Three Basic Techniques.

Uchiha Kiyoshi flipped through the notes, found the section on the Three Basic Techniques, and began studying it.

Looking at the notes in his hands, Uchiha Kiyoshi gradually came to understand the training methods for the Three Basic Techniques.

The Three Basic Techniques were the collective name for the Transformation Technique, Clone Technique, and Substitution Technique.

The Transformation Technique was a method of changing one's appearance. It only altered outward looks, without changing things like mass.

However, the Transformation Technique was still extremely useful and widely applied in many ninja missions. Even though some methods could counter it, such as the Byakugan, which could detect an opponent's transformation, they could only tell that a Transformation Technique had been used. They could not see the original form.

In short, the Transformation Technique was very useful. It truly deserved its place as one of the three essential Ninjutsu for ninjas.

Next was the Clone Technique. Put simply, this Ninjutsu used Chakra to create a clone. The clone possessed no strength and had no physical substance. It was somewhat like the afterimages left behind by the Afterimage Fist in Dragon Ball.

Still, despite its many drawbacks, it could be quite useful if employed properly. In the original story, Uchiha Shisui combined the Body Flicker Jutsu with the Clone Technique to create afterimages, confusing his opponents and earning the fame of Body Flicker Shisui.

Finally came the Substitution Technique, which Uchiha Kiyoshi had been looking forward to the most. One of the original story's greatest techniques! By preparing in advance and placing Ninjutsu on an object, the user could activate it and exchange positions with the substitute.

That was right! It was not some sleight of hand, but a genuine exchange of positions.

However, the following explanation greatly disappointed Uchiha Kiyoshi. This technique only had a range of three meters—less than three meters, even. A Chunin might not be able to complete a substitution of six or seven meters even with all of their Chakra, and the amount of Chakra consumed increased exponentially with distance.

This showed just how impractical this Ninjutsu was.

Still, if the Substitution Technique was used well, it could produce miraculous results. But that required enough scheming. Unfortunately, Uchiha Kiyoshi was not good at that sort of intrigue. Large-scale planning was manageable, but calculating so much during every battle was beyond him.

There was another issue: the choice of substitute. First, it needed to have mass, and it also had to be able to store Chakra, or at least contain Chakra for a short period. Therefore, people generally used specially treated wooden logs that retained a trace of vitality.

Even so, Uchiha Kiyoshi still held high hopes for the Substitution Technique. After all, it was Space-Time Ninjutsu. Perhaps he could improve it himself!

And he did not need much—expanding its range from three meters to ten would be enough.

After studying the principles of the Three Basic Techniques, Uchiha Kiyoshi did not start learning them immediately. Instead, he carefully read the training experience recorded in his father's notes.

Soon, after finishing them, Uchiha Kiyoshi prepared to practice.

Of the three techniques, Uchiha Kiyoshi did not begin with the Substitution Technique he had been anticipating most. Instead, he practiced the Transformation Technique, which consumed the least Chakra.

Uchiha Kiyoshi formed the Ram Seal with both hands, then controlled Chakra through a cycle within his body. It started from his lower abdomen, moved to both shoulders, and then returned to his lower abdomen.

"So this cycle is what gives Chakra its transformative ability?"

After going through the process—

"Poof!"

Nothing changed.

On his first attempt, Uchiha Kiyoshi failed to control the timing, and the entire process took four seconds.

Uchiha Kiyoshi formed the hand seal again and controlled his Chakra's circulation.

"Poof!"

Uchiha Kiyoshi transformed into a figure with a large head and a small body.

"It worked. The shaping just isn't good enough. Again."

"Poof!"
