Hearing He Ao's question, Dai Lot's expression froze. Then he said coldly, "When you stand against the Federation, all of the Federation's forces naturally become your enemies."
"I haven't stood against the Federation. At least, I don't think I have."
He Ao looked at Dai Lot with a smile. "It seems we define the 'Federation' differently."
"Self-righteous and stubbornly unrepentant."
Dai Lot set the teacup in his hand on the desk, producing a soft bang--. "The greatness of the Federation's true power is beyond your comprehension. Everything arises from Order, and everything returns to Order. You are merely a moth beneath the daylight, yet you dream of shaking the vast and boundless sky?"
"I'm only afraid that the sky isn't truly the sky, but merely a curtain covered in shoddy paintings, deceiving the world under a stolen name."
The smile on He Ao's face did not change as he spoke slowly.
"People born lowly like you are always prone to such delusions."
Dai Lot gripped his teacup and said coldly, "Even if chance let you climb to a high position, you're still nothing more than a rootless mad dog. Mad dogs naturally do things beyond reason."
"That reminds me of a sentence I once read in a book."
The smile on He Ao's face remained unchanged. "Do you know potatoes? They were once a staple crop during the Great Disaster Era."
"I graduated from Bailin Public School and Aines Grammar School."
Dai Lot sneered. "Unlike those industrial schools that only teach technical skills and can be attended by junior high school students."
Bailin Public School was Aines's finest private high school. It relied on donations to stay open, and one could only enter with certain "special" letters of recommendation.
