The upside-down undead drifted through the void, her loose hair swaying in the wind. Her clouded eyes watched He Ao's calm face. After a brief freeze, she slightly opened her mouth and said, "I forgot."
He Ao: ...
He did not waste any more words. He simply raised his hand and pressed it against the undead's forehead.
Purple Radiance instantly covered his eyes, then spread over his body, flowing from his fingers and into the undead's body.
Judging from the undead's condition, she should have died very quickly. There were no wounds on her body, and even her soul was intact. Her death had happened in an instant. The person who killed her had been far stronger than she was.
She might not even have resisted, or perhaps had not managed any effective resistance, before she was turned directly into an undead.
This might have been some special ability of the killer's—forcefully killing someone, then forcefully transforming them into an undead.
The killer should have been a Transcendent on some death-related path, very likely possessing abilities similar to those of a necromancer.
What was somewhat unusual, however, was that the killer had not taken her undead away, instead leaving her here.
The soul of a C-rank Transcendent, even without its Talent Sequence, was still excellent mystical material. Even if it were only used as labor, it was better than an ordinary soul.
As the power of Hyper-memory entered her body, He Ao's gaze narrowed slightly.
A few fragmented memory scenes surfaced in He Ao's mind.
From a first-person perspective, he saw the undead "herself" close her notebook, hide it in a hidden compartment beneath the bed, then move the bed back into place.
Then the undead raised her wristband and found the contact nicknamed "Butterfly."
Butterfly was Nasha's stage name.
