As He Ao thought, the Gaunt Man before him raised his hand again.
Flickering radiance lit up in the void. The translucent sphere that He Ao had just shattered in his hand lit up like flames in the Gaunt Man's palm.
"The Soul-Peeking Orb cannot be destroyed." The Gaunt Man raised his gaze to He Ao, a cold smile curling across his lips.
He stared into He Ao's eyes, at the Gray-Purple Radiance twining around their edges, and chuckled softly. "As expected, you've thrown in with some god and received Its favor. Otherwise, with your normal strength, you couldn't possibly have dodged my attack just now, much less counterattacked."
At this point, he paused slightly and mused, "Let me guess which god you've devoted yourself to."
He watched He Ao's expression, as though trying to read something from his face. "K, right? Your son is K's believer. Let me guess—did you deliberately sacrifice your son to gain that god's favor?"
As he spoke, Medala, sitting amid the flames, unconsciously raised her head and glanced at He Ao.
Then she withdrew her gaze, looked at the Gaunt Man, and sneered, "As the saying goes, pigs think everyone else is a pig, and shit thinks everyone else is shit. You piece of shit sacrificed your own family, so you think everyone else would do the same."
