"The news?" Lante froze.

"Every city under Federation control is broadcasting news of Wente City's fall," the intelligence officer said quickly. "Our people relayed the broadcast back." Could it be propaganda warfare? Lante lowered his gaze and asked doubtfully.

"That's possible, but unlikely." The intelligence officer looked at Lante and spoke quietly. "More than one city is broadcasting the report. It's very likely that every city under Graystone Palace's control is broadcasting this 'good news.' A broadcast on this scale is unlikely to be propaganda warfare, because if it's disproven, it could deal a major blow to Graystone Palace's credibility."

At that, the intelligence officer paused, looked at Lante, and continued, "Wente City has been under siege by the Federation's western main force for too long. Judging by the reports we received earlier, it couldn't have held out much longer. Its capture now is only to be expected."
