Inside the Floating Fighter Jet, an airport worker looked toward Mark, who was holding the cabin door open and peering out. "Can you see what's happening?"
"No," Mark said, pulling his hand back and standing on tiptoe. "From the sound of it, they went behind the villa. Take us a little higher and we should be able to see."
"Okay, okay." The airport worker nodded hurriedly, then hesitated and asked carefully, "We're not going any closer, right?"
"No, no." Mark shook his head at once. "Let the gods fight it out. We don't need to get mixed up in it. We'll just take a look from far away."
The Forest Corridor was a geographical term.
It lay at the southernmost end of the Federation, with the north–south Central Mountains to its north and the Molten Gorge to its south. It was the southernmost route connecting the Federation's east and west.
So what did those two words mean: east of the Forest Corridor?
He Ao raised his wristband and glanced at the map on it.
There was only one city east of the Forest Corridor: Vissenclo, a hub for southern trade.
But Vissenclo was nowhere near as prosperous as Ilotran.
After all, the southern reaches of the Federation's central and western regions were a mix of Gobi and desert. There were few cities, few people, and little trade to sustain.
And judging by the memories of He Ao's previous identities, the Forest Corridor was not especially easy to travel through. Strange Exotic Beasts and plants randomly attacked passersby, making it far less friendly to large caravans than Ilotran's central corridor.
Apart from its sparse population, though, the Forest Corridor was a thriving place for ordinary plants and animals.
It sounded like a suitable place for the Life Church's headquarters.
