Boom! The emergency gate slammed into the ground with a thunderous crash.

In an instant, it cut off the inside from the outside.

The people lunging at the burning figure crashed into the gate with a clatter.

But the Windbreaker Man had no time to worry about them now.

Boom! Boom! Crashes rang out from the gate, but they did not come from the people inside slamming into it. Outside, the few scrawny figures standing just beyond the gate were battering it frantically.

Those seemingly frail figures now displayed terrifying strength far beyond what their builds suggested, making the entire steel gate thunder.

A faint inward dent had appeared in the sturdy cast iron.

Beyond this gate, there was another set of double doors on the inside.

Cast from alloy nearly a meter thick, these doors were heavy and solid-the true entrance to this place.

The gate that had just dropped was only meant to buy time during emergencies when the double doors could not be closed.

The Windbreaker Man walked to the Biometric Verification window at the side. After holding out his hand to verify his identity, he tried to pull the switch for the double doors, but before he could act, figures rushed at him.

They were the people who had crashed into the gate and had their path blocked.

Now, they seemed to no longer recognize their leader, the mayor of this town. All they knew was that this foolish, blind man had stopped them from feeding.

They were so hungry. Thick saliva coated their teeth, stretching into thin strands under the lights in the night.

Whoosh! A blazing torch hurtled toward the Windbreaker Man, cutting through the night sky and darkness with searing light as it flew at his head.

"You bunch of idiots!"
