Although Regit was old, he was not so old that he would forget to lock the door.
He Ao lowered his gaze to the doorknob before him. The Smart Anti-theft Lock was undamaged; it appeared to have been bypassed.
Regit rented a cramped apartment with cheap rent. Its smart lock was not particularly advanced, so it was normal for it to be bypassed. The people who lived here generally did not own anything valuable, either.
After thinking for a moment, He Ao did not step forward. Instead, he gently pushed the door, turned sideways, and pressed himself against the wall beside it.
The old security door slowly swung open. There was no reaction from inside.
He Ao waited for a moment. After confirming there was no sound at all, he slowly extended one leg, then his body, and finally his head.
There was no reaction.

He Ao immediately gave chase. By the time he reached the window, all he could see was a figure riding a Trike Glider rapidly disappearing into the distance.
A Foldable Smart Trike Glider. That thing was not cheap. The Federal Bureau of Investigation's Combat Suits came equipped with this type of glider; in an emergency, it could be deployed directly for a high-altitude escape.
Unfortunately, Regit was not skilled with firearms and had no gun at home. Otherwise, He Ao could have tried to leave something on that guy.
In the brief time He Ao watched, the figure beneath the glider had already become a tiny dot and vanished among the high-rise buildings.
He Ao withdrew his gaze and turned on the lights in the room.
