The surrounding darkness was deathly still, as quiet as an abyss that devoured everything.

Jamie looked up at the sky. The bright moon that had hung in the heavens had vanished at some point, leaving behind only shapeless, bewildering darkness.

The streetlights that had once shone brightly on both sides of the road were now as dim as fireflies' tail lights. The magnificent lights at the hotel entrance had become as yellow and weak as old incandescent bulbs.

That dense darkness seemed to solidify into tangible dense fog, swallowing everything around it.

"Director He, we may have encountered a hidden incident..."

He withdrew his gaze and looked ahead, only to discover in shock that the Youth who had been standing before him had somehow been swallowed by the darkness, leaving only a patch of dim blackness.

He reached forward, but his hand only entered empty space.

The person who had been standing in front of him had vanished without him noticing.

A frantic, piercing telephone ring echoed through the pitch-black darkness.

He abruptly drew the pistol at his waist and stared into the empty darkness.

Violent vibrations echoed from his pocket.

His body trembled slightly as he slowly reached into his breast pocket and pulled out a black phone.

The grating ringtone grew even more intense.

He looked down at the phone. That sharp, shrieking ring was not his ringtone, yet his phone was vibrating violently, its screen lit up with a blood-red incoming call notification.

The option to hang up had turned completely blood-red.
