Hearing He Ao's words, Farn froze for an imperceptible instant. Then a smile tugged at the corner of his mouth as he said in confusion, "Mr. Lynn, what are you talking about? You've always treated us well. Everyone knows your reputation. How could you do anything to wrong us?"
He Ao slowly withdrew his gaze and looked at the city buildings sweeping past ahead, while also watching Farn's bloodstained face faintly reflected in the Floating Fighter's front windshield.
"Then why did you send information about my physical condition to a third party behind my back?"
"What did you say?"
Farn froze, the smile on his face stiffening. "When did I send out information about your physical condition?"
"When General Kovi and I were talking in the garden,"
He Ao sat in his chair, gripping the Brass Cane in his hand and leaning forward slightly. His tone was calm. "Was the third party you contacted someone from the consortium? If I'm not mistaken, they would most likely share that information with General Kovi. By now, that information should have reached General Kovi, right?"
His voice paused, growing colder by degrees. "Do you need me to contact General Kovi and confirm it?"
Farn was not one of the Mayor's Guard left behind by the previous mayor. He had been personally recruited by Lynn several years ago, when Lynn was preparing to make one final run for mayor.
That was why Farn had been entrusted with the important duty of captain of the Mayor's Guard responsible for Lynn's safety.
Over the past few years, Lynn had never treated Farn poorly. His salary was far above market average, and Lynn did not restrict his freedom. Whenever Farn needed help, Lynn had done everything he could to use his connections and resources to assist him.
