The person who had given him this device had told him that it could help him bypass the Mecha's internal authorization locks, allowing him to leave the restricted area without permission and pilot the Mecha out of South City.

He knew the device's functions definitely extended beyond that. Those cunning bastards had surely left plenty of contingencies behind, but he no longer cared.
