"Damn it, am I being watched?"
Kenneth stood by the window, reaching out to part the curtains and secretly observe the street outside. Though he saw no one loitering around his residence, he could feel that someone really had their eye on him.
His luck had been truly awful lately. Not only had his foolish father lost a huge sum of Galleons selling counterfeit goods, but he had also gotten himself thrown into Azkaban. And after Kenneth had made a delivery to Zonko's Joke Shop for Albert, he had begun to feel as though someone was watching him. Although Kenneth had not found anyone, his instincts from mixing in the gray areas told him that he really was being watched.
This was absolutely not a good thing.
But why was someone watching him?
Because of his father?
No. Kenneth preferred to believe it was because of Albert—because of that damned ten-thousand-Galleon bounty.
Somehow, he felt Albert had set him up.
That was right. If Albert had not sensed that something was wrong, why would he have needed Kenneth to help deliver the goods to Zoko?
Couldn't Fred, George, or Lee Jordan have delivered them instead?
Damn it!
Why had he not thought of that back then?
He had even signed a magical contract. Even if he were caught, he could not reveal anything at all.
Could Albert be trying to use this chance to get him killed?
No, probably not.
He was likely just dumping trouble on him while seeing whether he was trustworthy.
That thought made Kenneth even more depressed. He had proposed working with Albert from the start. There was nothing wrong with everyone making money together, yet old Toller had not only refused, but had also tried to profit from Albert's Defense Against the Dark Arts items.
