The moment Kingsley returned to Order of the Phoenix headquarters, he was met with a barrage of questions.

"It went terribly. They had originally planned to withdraw after daybreak, but The Dark Lord attacked before dawn. In the end, only about a quarter of the Aurors managed to escape into the shelter and survive." Kingsley could not help smiling bitterly. If they had left immediately, Voldemort would never have caught them.

They actually knew all too well just how despairing it was to be caught off guard by the enemy, especially when that enemy was Voldemort.

Albert was the best example. He always led them to defeat the Death Eaters because they had made preparations in advance and completely caught the enemy off guard.

Were the Death Eaters really that weak?

Not necessarily.

Even if there was a gap between the two sides, it was not as great as people imagined.
