Fred and George, who had originally wanted to make one last desperate struggle, ultimately failed to master the Scouring Charm in a single night. Of course, what made them give up completely was also Albert's remark: Filch might not even allow them to use magic.
The next day, during Charms class, Professor Flitwick checked everyone's practice. Compared with the Gryffindor students, very few Hufflepuff students had successfully mastered Lumos.

After Professor Flitwick finished explaining Nox, he left the remaining class time for everyone to practice the spell.
"Lumos... Nox." Albert succeeded after only a few attempts. To further test the spell's effects, he casually conjured a candle, lit it, and began trying to extinguish its flame.
"I succeeded too." Lee Jordan was in a very good mood. After more than a dozen attempts, his spell successfully extinguished the light from his wand, and then he copied Albert by putting out a candle flame.
According to Professor Flitwick, extinguishing a roaring fire was more difficult than extinguishing Lumos.
"So frustrating!" Fred was
