At that moment, Fred, George, and Lee Jordan all turned to look at Albert, their mouths hanging open in astonishment.
"Really?"
George found it hard to imagine Professor Flitwick actually intended to teach Albert about Dark magic.
"Yes. Professor Flitwick didn't actually object to using Dark magic against enemies, as long as it wasn't abused." Albert had still underestimated the influence of Dark magic.
All three hoped that once Albert had learned Dark magic, he could teach them too.
"You want to learn as well?"
"Of course. Why wouldn't we? Isn't it better to learn more? Besides, we trust Professor Flitwick not to teach you any messed-up Dark magic."
"The Explosion Spell really doesn't count as some messed-up Dark magic," Albert said noncommittally.
"Don't you already know that spell?"
"Wait, the Explosion Spell is Dark magic?" Lee Jordan asked stupidly.
"It is indeed Dark magic. It's much more powerful than Reducto. Peter Pettigrew once used it to blow up an entire street." Albert looked at the puzzled trio and explained, "The reason it's so weak when you use it is that your magical power isn't very strong yet. There's another reason too. It's like how some people can chant Avada Kedavra and still fail to kill anyone."
"No wonder our Explosion Spells are so weak," George muttered. "What does Professor Flitwick plan to teach you?"
"How to use the Explosion Spell flexibly, along with its advanced applications."
The three of them could not help feeling disappointed. They could not learn many of Albert's flashy tricks, such as the simplest Lumos technique—making the ball of light leave the wand and float by itself. They could not even manage that simplest trick, so the difficult ones were naturally out of the question.
If Albert wanted to learn Dark magic, he could choose
