When Draco was little, he had thought House-elves grew in Malfoy Manor.

House-elves only lived in ancient estates, castles, and places like that. It was common knowledge in the wizarding world; adults all said so, and so Draco, like many young wizards, believed it.

Children loved to imitate by nature. People often compared children to mirrors of adults. Some mirrors were merely mirrors, with no thoughts of their own, only reflecting what people did. Others, like magical artifacts such as the Mirror of Erised, possessed minds of their own.

Through constant exposure, many Slytherin children began to discriminate against Muggles and Muggle-born wizards, becoming as deeply entrenched in those beliefs as their parents.

Others were like Draco: he had no real concept of it. For the young Snape, following Voldemort could fulfill his ambitions, and Voldemort truly was a learned teacher.

Without his guidance, Pomona and the others would not have progressed so quickly.

The drunkard did have a name. His name was Lyall
