Death Swamp lay in a valley. It looked like one vast expanse of water, but it was actually a huge web formed by countless pools, mud pits, and crisscrossing paths. The swamp was dotted with black, stinking bogs that gave off waves of nauseating mist, while thick clouds hung over it all year round.
Blue-gray wild grass and vast stretches of reeds grew here, home to snakes and insects, but no birds. A stone Romanesque watchtower stood at the edge of the swamp, not far from the exit out of the valley. Even after years of wind and weather, it still stood firm. Beyond the valley was a paved road, and Muggles walking their dogs or jogging seemed to pass by occasionally.
"He shouldn't have told them they could rest after holding out for another two days." Hermione held up her wand as she followed behind Harry. The ground was covered not only in water but moss as well. It was wet and slippery, and one careless step could send them sprawling.
"Maybe the Werewolves won't go causing trouble at football matches. Or baseball games, horse races..."

"I don't know." Harry held up his wand and looked around the pitch-black corridor. "But I think I'm the only one here who wants to find clues about Voldemort."
"I've searched this place. There's nothing inside," Ron explained.
