"Divide what? We're not dividing anything!"

After dealing with the hidden arrows in the fifth-level maze, Severus sat on a stone bench in the "garden" to rest. Drinking water, he spoke with barely contained fury.

"I agree," Voldemort said from the side, fanning the flames. "If they want a share of the benefits, they should first see whether they have the strength for it. It's not as if anyone who shows up and asks for a cut should be satisfied."

"The Aurors and people from the International Confederation of Wizards are coming!" Pomona roared.

"You heard what I said," Voldemort said coldly.

"Look at me!" Severus displayed the wounds where arrows had grazed him. "I nearly died for this! You think you can just give it away because you say so!?"

"We haven't even opened the final door of the maze yet," Pomona said, utterly dejected.

"Can you tell us the riddle of the final constellation now?" Severus asked.

Voldemort said nothing.

"Or do you not know at all?" Severus narrowed his eyes suspiciously.

"Leda and the Swan," Voldemort said. "Two white eggs. One contained Castor and Clytemnestra, her children with her mortal king husband. The other hatched Pollux and Helen, her children with Zeus."

"We already know that. And then?" Severus asked.

"The final constellation is Gemini?" Pomona asked.

"What we should be worrying about is the next level," Voldemort said. "Do you think the sixth level being empty means it's the easiest?"

"Obviously not," Pomona said without hope. "What trick is it this time?"

"Zeus controlled lightning," Voldemort said. "That swan statue doesn't represent a real swan. It represents Zeus transformed into a swan."

Pomona looked at the black drapery overhead.

In the end, she still could not escape fate's cruel joke. She was going to get struck
