The Côte de Nuits lay in the heart of Burgundy's wine country. It was said to be the land most favored by God; twenty-four of Burgundy's twenty-five grand cru vineyards were located there, making it the region Burgundy was proudest of.
It stretched for more than twenty kilometers and was exceptionally narrow, no more than two hundred meters across at its widest point. Pomona could not imagine why French wizards had chosen to build a Quidditch Pitch here.
Under the International Statute of Secrecy, Quidditch matches were supposed to be kept out of Muggle sight.
Burgundy might have plenty of drunks, but not everyone was drunk all the time—not to mention things like cameras.
Yet when Pomona followed the rugged forest trail to the vicinity of that "lake," she realized things might not be as she had imagined.
This Quidditch stadium had been abandoned. The stands had completely rotted away, and the grass, left untended, was overgrown with weeds and shrubs. Clearly, France's Round of Sixteen match against Germany could not possibly be held here.
"Why did they build a stadium here?" Pomona asked, looking around.
"How should I know?" Severus surveyed the surroundings as well. "It looks like this place has been abandoned for quite some time."
"Quite some time? I'd say at least a century." Pomona cleared away some debris with her wand, revealing a faded poster that read, "1831 League Schedule."
"Looks like we came to the wrong place. Shouldn't we leave?" Severus asked.
Pomona ignored him.
"It's been so many years." He said impatiently, "What do you think I could do even if I saw him?"
Pomona put a finger to her lips, signaling Severus to be quiet, then softened her footsteps as much as possible.
There were fresh footprints on the ground. She had learned
