Snape and Gong Saiyi brought the sleeping Pomona back to the Malfoy family's winery.
"Thank you for your trouble, Mrs. Yang," Snape said to Felix Yang's mother.
"She's unconscious again?" Fiona asked worriedly. "She falls asleep so often. Should we find a doctor to examine her?"
"My goddaughter is a doctor. Her sleeping has nothing to do with illness." With his usual lack of expression, Severus said in a gloomy tone, "Please take good care of her."
"Don't worry, I will," Fiona said. Severus then closed the door and left.
He returned to the house where the vampire Giovanni had once stayed while recovering from his injuries. Gong Saiyi lived there now. He had a great many belongings, all rather cluttered, yet they still had not filled the room.
"You really own a lot of houses," Gong Saiyi said as he sorted through his things.
"Still not as many as he does," Severus sneered. "Have you found any leads on that 'City of Beggars'?"
"It was a city that never existed. City Hall was burned during the Paris Commune, so even if there had been plans, they would be impossible to find now." Gong Saiyi stopped tidying. "How about we go take a look at his estate?"
"All of France is his."
"No, Rambouillet. He spent the night there on the eve of his departure for Elba," Gong Saiyi said. "He liked that place very much."
"Like a condemned man's Last Supper," Severus said sarcastically.
"Do you want to go?" Gong Saiyi asked. "If you don't want to, I can do it for you. Isn't that what you pay me for?"
"Thank you," Severus said after a moment of silence.
"I can't believe only one day has passed," Gong Saiyi said. "She was perfectly fine when we had dinner together
