Georgiana had no idea whether the early nineteenth-century Muggle governments and the Ministry of Magic had reached an agreement on how to deal with Werewolves, but she still had Krista, the newcomer assigned to protect her, contact Carolan.

Georgiana truly had nothing to say about that young lady of the Lestrange family. She would rather stay in Paris and make sure the Ministry of Magic employees did their work properly in Georgiana's place than go "sightseeing" in the northwest.

As for Lufu Truman, Georgiana had not seen her for some time. As the secrets Georgiana came into contact with grew increasingly sensitive, it seemed inappropriate for a British witch to remain at her side.

Josephine's hometown was on Martinique, close to Saint-Domingue. If Josephine's father and uncle had been more capable, Josephine would not have found herself in such a difficult position now.

Georgiana had absolutely no idea what she was doing. While Napoleon received Fournier, she went to find Anlaha, the Mamluk cavalryman whose arrow had killed the Werewolf and, in a sense, saved her life as well. Following Napoleon's instructions, she apologized to Anlaha.

Hufflepuff had never been stingy with apologies, but Anlaha looked as though she had been frightened senseless and took a long while to recover. In the end, Rapp came to her rescue. He tossed Anlaha a heavy purse of coins. Anlaha accepted it with a grin, then returned to the Mamluks as though nothing had happened. No one knew what he said, but the Mamluks remaining at the main camp erupted into cheers.

"Gold coins work better than apologies," Rapp said to Georgiana with a smile. "Come on, Georgiana."

Georgiana's feelings were terribly complicated. She sympathized with that Werewolf, yet she felt as if she had just sold it off like a fur merchant.
