The treehouse had been discovered by the Imperial Guard first. When they passed by during the day, there had clearly been nothing there.

The owner seemed to have left not long ago. The lamps and candles inside were still lit. Behind the treehouse was a fenced enclosure filled with many strange little animals, which danced toward the moon as if they had gone mad.

The Imperial Guard did not dare investigate further, so they set off a flare. Georgiana did not enter the treehouse immediately. Instead, she examined the animals in the enclosure and discovered that they were all Mooncalves.

Mooncalf dung was excellent fertilizer. Beside the enclosure was a small shed filled with processed bags of fertilizer. Besides that, she found a very large doghouse, but the dog that had occupied it was nowhere to be seen.

She then climbed the wooden ladder to the door of the treehouse and tried to open it with Alohomora, but the old-looking door did not budge.

She studied the door carefully for a long time and found two wooden boxes mounted on the frame.

"This is an anti-theft method passed down in Mesopotamia," Georgiana said to Leon Sterndale and Rapp. "Runes are placed inside. Even if the person who empowered them dies, the runes will still work."

Neither of them understood what she was talking about.

"I think I probably know what happened," she said helplessly.

"Can you open this door?" Rapp was concerned with something else entirely.

"Of course." Georgiana cast Bombarda at the door, blasting it open.

The furnishings in the treehouse were simple but cozy. There was a copper basin that not only heated the room but also dried clothes. In one corner stood a crude single bed, its sheets and pillow spotless. On the other side was a
