Pomona knocked on the door of the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom.
"Come in," Remus Lupin's voice called from behind the door.
She pushed it open and walked in, finding Remus frowning over a map.
"Hi, Professor Lupin. Are you ready?"
"Oh, it's you." Remus set down the map in his hand. "What can I do for you, Professor Sprout?"
Pomona took out the potion Snape had given her. "It's time to say goodbye to those Chizpurfles."
"It's also time to set up the examination room." Remus smiled as well. "Wait for me a moment!"
With that, he turned and went back to his office.
Pomona watched Remus's retreating back. He did seem to be in much better spirits than when he had first arrived at Hogwarts, and he no longer looked so haggard.
Most importantly, she had heard that after taking Severus's improved potion, Remus could retain his sanity even while transformed. That was already a tremendous breakthrough.
After all, the original potion's aconite merely slowed a person's heartbeat to almost nothing, as though they had entered a near-death state. A Werewolf like that posed no threat.
Before long, Remus hurried downstairs with his wizarding gramophone in hand.
"I don't think cleaning requires music," Pomona said.
"No, no, we're not just cleaning. Don't forget those 'big ones,'" Remus said with a smile. "We need to catch them."
"All right." Pomona shrugged. "Let's go."
Remus placed the gramophone on a table outside the classroom door, then set the needle on the record. A lively tune immediately began to play.
"How about this one?" Remus asked, swaying as if he were dancing.
"It's very nice," she said with a smile.
