"Headmistress!"

Pomona turned around, and "Surprise!" immediately threw her arms around her.

"Tonks!" Pomona cried in surprise. "When did you get back?"

"I just finished training. I'm an Auror now!" Tonks said happily. "It's so good to see you again."

Pomona felt conflicted, because Aurors had frequently been appearing near the school lately.

"I'm happy for you too." Pomona smiled as she looked Tonks over.

Her hair was still pink, but at least she no longer looked like one of the Weird Sisters. That was quite an improvement.

"Pomona!"

She heard someone call her again. Turning, she saw Remus walking down the corridor with a stack of parchment in his arms.

"What is it, Remus?" she asked.

"I've checked that room. 'Everything is ready.'" Remus stared at Pomona as he spoke, then nodded to Tonks before leaving.

"Who was that?" Tonks asked, watching Remus's retreating back.

"The new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher," Pomona said, also watching Remus as he walked along reading the parchment in his hands. Then she looked at Tonks. "Come on, let's go to my office and have a proper chat."

"I'm afraid I can't," Tonks said helplessly. "I'm on a mission."

"Oh, I see." Pomona spoke calmly. "You're here to arrest Sirius Black too."

"Actually, I think protecting Harry Potter is more important," Tonks said. "Haven't you heard?"

"Heard what?"

"After the trials, some Death Eaters who escaped prosecution were put under surveillance. They've been acting suspiciously."

"I know about that," Pomona said.

"The marks on their arms seem to have changed too," Tonks added. "Nothing like that has happened in over a decade."
