At the edge of the forest stood a village, where two innocent girls gathered to talk.
Legend had it that when ice and snow covered the deep blue lake, one could see the face of one's beloved at midnight. The two girls agreed to go together.
"What are you doing?"
Pomona looked up.
"I'm reading the book Albus left behind."
"You mean a fairy tale?" he asked teasingly.
"I have a question." She looked into his black eyes.
"What?"
Why did you put the Sword of Gryffindor beneath the frozen lake and make Harry dive down to retrieve it?
"Has the water in the Pensieve ever frozen?" Pomona asked.
"Why are you suddenly thinking about that?" Severus asked.
She handed him the book in her hand.
"This story has a continuation."
"What continuation?" he asked, pretending to be interested.
"There was a little shepherd boy who found a 'gem' in the forest." Pomona said, "He gave that gem to a wizard."
Through the gem, the wizard saw a cruel scene. After accepting the king's request, the stepmother immediately came up with a plan. Her biological daughter and stepdaughter had similar figures, but the daughter had thin hair and was rather foolish. Why not have her daughter take the stepdaughter's place and become the king's queen?
So, while her stepdaughter was asleep, the mother cut off her fiery red hair and made it into a wig for her own daughter. When the stepdaughter woke and found her hair shortened, her stepmother told her,
"It is a custom. Every girl who marries must cut her hair."
The girl did not think much of it. As she washed and dressed, she noticed in the mirror that her stepmother had slipped a dagger into her pocket.
"What is that for?" the girl asked.
"To
