A game called yo-yo was popular in the Muggle world. These "balls" had even been taken into space aboard spacecraft as part of a space toy program.
Though it was difficult to understand, Pomona still permitted the existence of this ball-game club. The club members would probably have to develop the toys themselves, however, since Zonko did not sell them.
Allocating funds still required the headmaster's signature. After signing her name, Pomona placed the application form among a thick stack of requests and headed for the headmaster's office.
Thanks to Lucius Malfoy being a school governor, after holding several charity galas, the former Death Eater had reappeared in the public eye as an educator.
Compared to the Wizarding World public's opinion of Ludo Bagman, Pomona's little bit of favoritism was hardly worth mentioning. Wizards simply loved Quidditch too much.
With that thought, she pulled out an application form. It was her request to replace the brooms used in the school's Quidditch lessons. They were terribly old, and some were even Moon Dreams from "a century" ago.
This was the seventh time Albus had returned the application form. She felt they needed to discuss it face-to-face.
She planned to take the revolving staircase by the gargoyle on the third floor, which meant passing the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom. As she walked by, she heard a lively commotion inside.
"...178, 179, 180..."
The children counted as a Gryffindor girl held up her wand and "stabbed" the bats flying around the classroom out of the air one by one.
Pomona could not help stopping.
The girl was actually using Stupefy, but there were very few people with hands as fast as hers. It was as though she held not a wand, but a rapier.
"...201, 202, 203, there are no more!"
