A great many Ghouls lived in the garden, so the Weasleys had to clear them out regularly and toss them over the hedge. But the Ghouls always sneaked back because Arthur was too lenient with them.
For that reason, the Weasleys kept a "pet" Ghoul whose food was Ghouls. The relationship between the Ghoul and the Ghouls was like Tom and Jerry, though Percy kept a rat as a pet.
