Dumbledore held a staff meeting on Monday, where two main issues were discussed.
One was security. Although the incident in Aindale had caused no casualties, it made everyone realize that the danger had shifted from inside the school to outside it, threatening the safety of nearby villages.
The mountain Trolls becoming extremely dangerous was not an isolated case; similar situations had occurred in history. Rudy would take charge of investigating the mines and helmets, while the Slytherin Head of House would oversee order within the castle.
The second issue was the relationship between the Houses. They should remain united and friendly, competing harmoniously, blah blah blah.
Then there was the stray Erumpent. After examining her, Hagrid believed she should be treated, while whether she would be returned to the herd would be decided separately.
In truth, the current size of the Hogwarts Erumpent herd had already exceeded what the environment could sustain. The best solution would be to release them into mountain regions across Europe, allowing them to live as their ancestors had.
But even though an Erumpent's hide was tougher than dragon hide and most spells were useless against it, their horns still had great medicinal value, so they would continue to be poached.
Compared to such an outcome, the Erumpent Vera—named by Hagrid—was rather fortunate, though she was covered in wounds.
"She's small for an Erumpent," Hagrid said as he stroked Vera. "We won't hurt you, pretty girl."
Vera lay weakly on the dungeon floor. She had just eaten food laced with a sleeping potion, while Leeds examined and treated her under Kettleburn's guidance.
Wild animals were naturally different from domesticated ones. Aside from her minor wounds, Vera also had problems with her lumbar vertebrae. A normal Erumpent's spine rose in an arch, but perhaps because of the
