If anyone wanted to encounter Centaurs in the Forbidden Forest, aside from stumbling across them by chance or entering their territory and waiting to be "shot dead" by their arrows, there was another way: find wand wood with Bowtruckles. Centaurs used it to make bows.

"I want the Bowtruckles to protect them," Bane said.

"Let's go, I want to see!" Pomona said excitedly, her foul mood from before instantly swept away.

"When we draw our bows, we focus on what we can control," Bane said. "When our will is weak, even the wind is an obstacle. We focus on the act of drawing the bow, rather than expecting an outcome, because the outcome is beyond our control."
