Headmaster Dumbledore decided to hold a graduation ball for the seventh years, but there would be no graduation ceremony. Magical schools did not hold degree-conferral ceremonies, and considering that some students' parents could not come to the Wizarding World, no one from outside the school would be invited either.

Isabella Sidney emerged from the darkness, holding a huge bouquet of roses.

"What are you doing here, Professor?" Isabella asked with a smile.

"I came to find something. I was just leaving," Pomona said.

"Perfect. I'm heading back to the dungeons too. Let's go together," Isabella said.

So they walked down together. All along the way, Pomona could smell the roses in Isabella's arms, and they reminded her of Lily. Back then, James Potter had given her a bouquet of roses in front of everyone.

It had not been a proposal, but it had effectively announced that they were together. Instead of turning and leaving as usual, Lily accepted James's roses, and then, amid everyone's cheering, they embraced.
