The most expensive ingredient was Erumpent horn powder. In fact, an Erumpent's horn was much like a human fingernail: it could grow back after being trimmed. There was absolutely no need to kill one just to obtain its horn.
After thinking it over, she decided to prepare a bottle for every Potions Tournament contestant to carry with them. It could serve as a Christmas gift, and perhaps come in handy.
Fortunately, this was the Potions Tournament, not the Triwizard Tournament. They did not have to select one "champion" from each school; anyone who wanted to go could go.
