An Unprecedented Creation
The Witcher.
The product of vicious witchcraft and sorcery, a rogue devoid of morality, conscience, and scruples, is a truly demonic creation.
They have no skills other than killing.
Vicious descriptions flashed through Bowen's mind.
He had never seen a living Witcher before being chosen as King's Guard.
certainly,
He knew a little about the Witcher, only a few poems from bards.
after all.
Bowen was merely a member of a collateral branch of the House Val, and knowledge of the supernatural and mysterious was beyond the comprehension of a child raised in a remote town.
Moreover, seemingly out of some concern, most nobles deliberately conceal the news of witchers from their younger generations.
It was as if they were worried that the other person would go crazy and climb Blue Mountain to drink those strange and wonderful potions.
Until recently, when the book "Freaks, or Descriptions of Witchers" suddenly became popular in the court of Kedwen, with almost everyone having a copy.
This was the first time Bowen had ever understood this anomaly that arose from among humans so deeply.
At least, that's what Bowen considers in-depth.
"Is it true that they have no other skills besides killing?"
This was his feeling after reading the book for the first time.
For a warrior and a knight, this is probably the greatest compliment.
Not convinced?
Maybe so.
But more than that, they are eager to try.
"Can a bunch of monsters who came from the mud compare to knights who were born with noble blood?"
And then he saw it today.
The fluid movements and the swirling sword-wielding posture resembled dancing at a noble's ball.
Despite being riddled with mistakes and resembling a swordsmanship performance, he swiftly dispatched a monster known as a demon spirit by the witchers.
Bowen's face darkened at the thought of the demon spirit.
Damn it!
That monster is really strong!
Not only are their attacks powerful and heavy, but they also appear unexpectedly from behind.
What's most terrifying is that his and the captain's attacks were completely ineffective against this ghostly monster.
Many attacks, though they had clearly pierced into that tattered body, had no effect whatsoever on the demonic creature called the Demon Spirit.
But these witchers were different; multicolored light shimmered from their bodies.
In their eyes, demons and spirits were like toys.
The captain and he were struggling to fight one each, while the witcher named Vesemir was fighting three by himself and seemed to be handling them with ease.
Even more unbelievable was the apprentice.
The eerie, cold blue Cat Eyes were as icy as the snow on the On the Blue Mountains.
Looking at you, the chill seems to touch your soul, and the breath of death brushes against your neck.
Even demons could only last three rounds under such a cold gaze before turning to ashes.
Horrible!
Horrible!
Horrible!
Is he really another Witcher's apprentice?
Bowen always felt that this witcher apprentice, whose name he didn't even know, was stronger than the witcher named Vesemir.
and...
Was this witcher apprentice really just a thirteen or fourteen-year-old child, as he saw him to be?
His swordsmanship and footwork were so skillful that it seemed he had been practicing in this field for over ten years. At least Bowen, who started learning swordsmanship at the age of four or five, could not have reached this level by the age of thirteen or fourteen.
No...
Even now, he can't reach that level.
Even though his swordsmanship was already the best among his peers in the kingdom...
So is he really still a thirteen or fourteen-year-old child?
Bowen couldn't help but repeat the question to himself.
Could it be that he, like that witcher named Vesemir, only looks young but is actually in his forties or fifties, and has also met Viscount Hudson?
In a daze, Bowen realized that the apprentice had killed all the demons.
Shocked and astonished by the upheaval of his beliefs, he was parched and couldn't help but ask:
"Witch... witch... witcher apprentice, you also know Viscount Hudson?"
"Um?"
Ailin was stunned by what he heard.
When did he meet Viscount Hudson?
Looking in the direction of the sound.
The young knight held the sword in front of his chest as if the demon was still there, which looked somewhat comical.
Noticing Ailin's gaze, he realized what was happening and awkwardly sheathed his longsword.
"I don't know Viscount Hudson, is that so?" Ailin asked curiously.
The young knight was about to ask another question.
"Ah--"
A cry of pain interrupted him.
At this moment, the two knights snapped out of their daze from Ailin's fluid hunting movements and remembered that a companion had been seriously injured in the bushes not far away. They quickly ran over.
"Ailin, come here!"
Vesemir's voice suddenly came, drawing Ailin's attention back.
"What's wrong, Master Vesemir?"
Ailin ran over in a few steps.
They found Vesemir squatting on the ground, fiddling with the black powder left behind by the demon.
"After a demon is killed, what is usually left behind is a pale green, shiny, powdery Specter Essence, and sometimes there is also emerald dust and amethyst dust."
"But I have never seen such black material, which contains such extreme malice."
Not the Specter Essence?
Ailin paused for a moment.
He certainly knew the types of items dropped by spirits in the game.
However, games are games and reality is reality. He had never killed a demon spirit before, so he didn't notice anything unusual when he saw the black dust.
"Could it be because of that Nekker's Purified Spirit?" he wondered.
After all, when killing monsters with physical forms, the Witcher's Handbook also plunders the hearts of the dead monsters and makes them into Heart Essence Fluid.
Vesemir was unaware of his inner thoughts.
He frowned, glanced up at Ailin, and said solemnly:
"The materials left behind after these evil spirits were killed are strange!"
"Although legend has it that the demon spirit is tormented by endless and unimaginable pain, filled with anger and resentment, and full of hatred and jealousy towards the living."
"But the materials left behind after the death of a demon are actually positive and luminous."
"And..."
Vesemir looked up at the sky.
It was almost noon, and the wind of late winter and early spring still carried a slight chill.
But even under a sky full of dark clouds, the warm sunlight still shines down straight down, bringing a sense of warmth.
"Unless there are special circumstances, demons only appear at night... Apart from Daytime Nekker... I have never even seen a demon that appears during the day..."
"And Daytime Nekker are another kind of ghostly demonic creature..."
When Ailin heard what Vesemir said, he also became serious.
After a moment's thought, he conducted an analysis on the pile of dust that exuded a faint sense of malice.
[Name: Residue of Grudge]
[Type: Magical Material]
[Function: Materials containing the malice of a spirit before its death]
[Note: When the good side is stripped away, all that's left is pure evil!]
The good side has been stripped away?
So it turns out it was because the Nekker's Purified Spirit was extracted by the Witcher's Handbook!
Ailin thought to himself.
But why do demons appear during the day?
Just then, the voice of the middle-aged knight suddenly came from behind Ailin and Vesemir.
"Two Witchers... Sir, could you come here for a moment?"
