Adda of Vengerberg gently closed the heavy parchment book and looked at Ailin with admiration in her eyes. "You learn very quickly. You're very talented."

"Most Mountain Folk children don't learn nearly as fast as you do."

"Though this isn't the first time, I really have to ask again—are you truly a witcher?"

Although Elder Speech was the elves' native tongue, considering their long lifespans and equally long childhoods, learning it faster than ordinary elven children was not exactly praise.

Of course, the latter half was indeed sincere praise.

That faintly arrogant sharpness was exactly what elven compliments were supposed to sound like.

"Quite a few witchers understand Elder Speech," Ailin said with a polite smile. "Vesemir and Dante can both speak it fluently..."

"It's different," Adda of Vengerberg said, shaking her head. "Other witchers merely know an additional language. You, however, received the most orthodox Elder Speech education—the curriculum Mountain Folk once prepared for clan members with exceptional magical talent."

"Vila has high hopes for you."

Ailin gently shook his head without agreeing to anything.

Adda of Vengerberg did not mind. She rose from her chair and glanced out the window. "Though it's still early, let's stop here for today. Before Vila left, she told me you were interested in the druidic path?"

"That's right." Ailin nodded and stood as well. "I'll have to trouble Lady Adda to find me a good teacher."

As Adda of Vengerberg walked out of the Wooden Hut, she lightly shook her head. "Zerby is an extremely enthusiastic Great Druid. In truth, even if Vila hadn't come to me, if you sought him out yourself, he would certainly teach you the druidic path wholeheartedly."
