Mrs. Weasley smoothed Ron's collar for him, looked him over again, and nodded in satisfaction. "Ron, what do you think of this one?"
Ron quickly nodded. "Mum, this color's great! I really like it. You've got such a good eye!"
This was the method he had learned from Vizet: you had to point out a specific good point first, then add a couple of compliments. That made it seem as if he cared enough, and it satisfied the person helping choose the clothes.
Earlier, Ron and the others had visited several shops, all because their responses had grown more and more perfunctory. Saying "good" sounded insincere, but saying "not good" would not do either, and in the end they had been forced to visit even more clothing stores.
Later, when it was the girls' turn to help Vizet choose clothes, no one had expected that in less than half an hour, Vizet would be carrying bag after bag, having completed the "mission" with impressive efficiency.
"That's wonderful, then!" Sure enough, Mrs. Weasley gave a satisfied smile and beckoned to Harry at the side. "Harry, come here quickly!"
Ron let out a breath of relief, tugged off the jacket he was wearing, handed it to the shop assistant, and swiftly returned to the boys' ranks.
"Use Vizet's method! This method is absolutely brilliant!" he whispered to Harry and the others. "As long as they're happy, that's all that matters!"
"Got it!" Harry raised his hand in an "OK" gesture, put on a smile, and went up to her. "Coming! Mrs. Weasley!"
Fred grimaced and said, "Wicked Vizet! He had such a useful method and didn't tell us earlier!"
"Exactly! How could Vizet be so wicked?" George looked around. "Huh... where's Vizet? Did he flee the scene of the crime?"
