Just as Carcas was left dizzy and disoriented by his string of perilous fabrications, Snape's next words finally cleared his head somewhat.
"The Dark Lord was able to endure for so long because he naturally possessed sufficient patience. Since conventional methods cannot stop you... perhaps he can rely on some external force?"
Those had been Snape's exact words, and no matter how one heard them, they counted as praise.
For Carcas now, simply repeating them word for word would ensure nothing could go wrong. It was an exceptionally easy task.
After all, relaying something exactly as it had been said was on an entirely different level from taking the risk of making things up.
He eagerly said, "That servant said... that you are extraordinarily farsighted and possess immense patience!"
