Herpo's hatred was so intense at that moment that even Voldemort noticed it.
Just as Voldemort was about to turn and look at Herpo, Carcas spoke up. "That Dumbledore mentioned your other servant."
"Barty?" Voldemort turned back, his gaze settling on Carcas. "What did Dumbledore say?"
"He was explaining things to the father of your other servant..." Carcas reported. "He said that your other servant was actually bait you had provided."
"And he believed that the Time Hall in the Department of Mysteries... was a trap you had specifically set for that Guardian."
"Your servant is quite dedicated too... He said he was used, which was why he led that Guardian into the trap."
"How perceptive!" Herpo sighed. He had lost count of how many times he had praised Snape.
"In that case, Dumbledore probably..." He voiced his speculation. "Won't become too suspicious instead."
"Exactly!" Carcas nodded. "That Dumbledore is rather interesting. He actually accepted that servant's explanation."
"And the father of your other servant was misled by Dumbledore as well. He also thinks your servant is very reliable."
"Sometimes, being too clever..." Herpo's expression turned peculiar, carrying a trace of mockery. "Isn't necessarily a good thing."
Carcas agreed. "I think so too. That's the kind of cleverness born of self-importance—when in truth, it's utter stupidity!"
"That Dumbledore is far too stupid! He actually took the initiative to say something so foolish... that once your other servant woke up, he would immediately identify your servant."
"To convince the father of your other servant, Dumbledore even analyzed it for him, saying that you only needed to pay the price of one servant to throw the entire Ministry of Magic into turmoil and make everyone fear for their safety."
