Voldemort swooped down, and the other wizards raised their Wands one after another, launching attacks at the oncoming Voldemort.
Before several streaks of Magical Light could strike Voldemort, they were crushed by the surging, spreading Black Mist, turning into specks of starlight that vanished into the air.
Professor McGonagall transfigured a sharp blade, which advanced alongside Professor Flitwick's spell and reached Voldemort at the same moment.
The Black Mist surrounding Voldemort had only just swept aside the other spells when it surged again, forming a barrier that blocked the incoming blade and spell.
With a muffled bang, the blade and spell were swiftly shattered nonetheless.
Neither professor was surprised by this, and both swung their Wands at once.
The scattered fragments of the blade transfigured again, becoming a dense swarm of daggers.
The daggers gleamed with cold light and moved even faster than before. Professor Flitwick was clearly lending his power to them.
The swarm of daggers clashed with the Black Mist barrier again. This time, the barrier was torn open with a crack, and a flicker of surprise flashed through Voldemort's eyes.
Blue flames appeared once more, slipping through the torn opening.
As if it possessed consciousness, the Black Mist noticed the intruding blue flames and boiled as it tangled with them.
Voldemort had also reached Dumbledore by then. He sharply raised his Wand. "Avada Kedavra!"
As though he had anticipated Voldemort's move, Dumbledore's Wand traced a silver arc. The shattered dagger fragments flew toward him and gathered into several shields that spun rapidly around him.
The sickly green light of the Killing Curse followed close behind and collided with one of the shields, its glow dimming.
Voldemort's new Wand in his left hand had already swung out. A sinister purple beam burst from its tip, shooting straight for
