Onward to the Soul
Among the students, there was a rumor about Professor Snape.
It is said that becoming Potions Class professor was not his original intention; his goal was to Defence Against the Dark Arts professor.
Perhaps Dumbledore felt that the Potions Master should focus on Potions Class, so he did not approve Professor Snape's request to transfer.
Professor Snape had unique insights into Potions, and he had some special requirements and intricacies regarding the handling of materials and the specific steps of brewing Potions.
These special requirements and considerations are often very effective in increasing the success rate of brewing Potions.
His desire to apply for the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor was not an overstepping of his authority or a unreasonable act.
In Defence Against the Dark Arts, the Patronus Charm is a complex and sophisticated spell.
Professor Snape possessed unique insights and methods for mastering this advanced magic, unlike most wizards.
"Those spellbooks also tell you to recall happy memories and concentrate all your thoughts on a particularly pleasant moment..."
"This method is equivalent to the fishhook that Muggle use when fishing, and those fish that lure fish use the hook and bait to try their luck..."
"This method works; at least it can catch fish and help the wizard cast the Patronus Charm. However, it's not stable enough. You need to cast the Patronus Charm more consistently."
Regarding the method of casting the Patronus Charm, Professor Snape used a few simple sentences and a vivid analogy to explain the method that wizards would typically use when practicing the Patronus Charm.
This can be seen as a demonstration that he has equally excellent insights into Defence Against the Dark Arts and is absolutely capable of being the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor.
Professor Snape returned to normal, his eyes bright and sharp, seemingly enjoying the lecture with a certain pleasure.
Perhaps teaching him about Defence Against the Dark Arts would bring him more pleasure?
"The method I'm about to tell you needs to be based on a variety of positive emotions; the more positive emotions you can use, the better..."
"These positive emotions can not only help you understand your soul, but also strengthen it and maintain its purity..."
"You must remember this!" Professor Snape's tone suddenly turned cold, his expression becoming serious and icy as he stared intently at Wizet.
"When you feel darkness and are about to be swallowed by evil thoughts, the Patronus Charm cast in this way can provide you with final protection!"
"The history of the Patronus Charm is unknown, but we can infer its initial motivation by looking at its effects. It is a magic that protects itself."
"If Patronus cannot even protect itself, what other characteristics or functions does it have? When you are abandoned, the Patronus Charm is your last resort..."
At this point, Professor Snape frowned and crossed his arms, seemingly realizing he had talked too much.
"I've said enough. You can start casting the Patronus Charm now... You should know all about those things on paper."
Everything he just said was about the concept and understanding of the Patronus Charm itself, without touching on other elements of the spell, such as the tone of voice and gestures.
In his view, Wizet may have already known about this magic.
And indeed, Wizet did not disappoint Professor Snape's trust.
Wizet said, "Recall memories that bring positive emotions, draw a circle with your wand to make those positive emotions your Patronus, and finally firmly say the spell ' Expecto Patronum '."
"There's a Boggart inside the box, but it will turn into Dementor." Professor Snape casually patted the worn wooden box. "You'll need to help me get rid of the Dementor."
In some ways, Dementor and Boggart are very similar.
If the Boggart crave fear, then the Dementor crave happiness and all positive emotions.
That is why one of the uses of the Patronus Charm is to deal with Dementor.
Wizet was reminded of the Pixies, who craved mockery—another kind of emotion...
However, now is not the time for speculation; casting the Patronus Charm is what we should be doing right now.
Having constructed Soul Maze, it wasn't difficult for Wizet to use positive emotions.
The challenge lies in how to explore one's own soul through the Patronus Charm.
After figuring out the difficulties, Wizet raised her wand and drew circles in the air, her mind filled with various memories, extracting the positive emotions from them.
Snape opened the old wooden box expressionlessly, his withered, festering hands clinging to the edge of the box and reaching out first;
It was still autumn, but the air around them was unusually frosty, with a white frost spreading out from the old wooden box.
The scattered orange glow of the setting sun through the window disappeared, and the surrounding light seemed to be absorbed by the withered palm, turning it into a dimness like a faded photograph.
The Dementor burst out of the dilapidated wooden box, emitting a low, rapid wheezing sound. The chill finally appeared, greedily extinguishing the remaining warmth around it.
It resembled a rotting corpse draped in a tattered cloak, nearly as tall as Hagrid, with exposed, decaying gray skin; it was extremely oppressive.
Snape remained expressionless, his hands behind his back, seemingly unafraid of the Dementor, putting on an air of complete indifference.
Nevertheless, Wizet did not hesitate and immediately chanted the spell. "Expecto Patronum!"
Following Professor Snape's teachings, he used positive emotions as a starting point to delve into a deeper part of himself...
Wizet felt a sense of weightlessness as she fell, as if spinning in circles, similar to the hand gestures used to cast the Patronus Charm...
As he spun around and around, he entered a state similar to flying, as if he had transformed into a fallen leaf, drifting back and forth in the air...
Before his eyes was only a vast expanse of silver light, which shielded him from the bizarre and colorful world around him.
Wizet could see that in this colorful world, scenes from the past constantly appeared, disappeared, and reassembled, in an endless cycle.
Positive emotions are protecting him at this moment, guiding him through obstacles and leading him toward his soul...
The diffused silver light gradually receded, as if transforming into a layer of light that adhered firmly to his body...
The bizarre and fantastical world vanished, and he heard a familiar yet strange rustling sound...
Wizet opened her eyes; the last rays of the setting sun shone through the open window, casting an orange hue on the patterned stone floor...
Outside the window stood an old tree taller than the second floor, its few remaining leaves swaying back and forth, rustling in the cold wind...
The paint on the wall began to peel, revealing the gray substrate underneath...
Two rows of iron bunk beds were arranged against the wall, each with a thin mattress and a quilt covered with a slightly yellowed cover...
This is his room at the Fawley.
