Being favored by Hufflepuff was a wonderful experience.
At breakfast, Vizet could always receive jams of various flavors from his Hufflepuff classmates.
According to Hanna and the others, these jams were specially supplied for the teachers, and only Hufflepuff had the chance to enjoy them.
Vizet had to admit that these specially supplied jams each had their own distinct flavor.
Through the Magic Eye, he could see the magical symbols contained within them, and those symbols were the source of their flavors.
Around noon, a sleek-feathered Owl flew into the Great Hall.
The Owl circled once above the Great Hall before landing on Vizet's shoulder.
Vizet gently stroked Thor's crown feathers. "You worked hard. Flying back and forth must have been tiring, right?"
"Coo..." Thor rubbed his beak against Vizet's cheek, then flapped away from the Great Hall. He was probably planning to return to the Owlery and get a good night's sleep.
Vizet had just removed the envelope when his dormmates already turned their heads, curiosity showing in their eyes.
Chris leaned over and looked at the envelope, which was ringed with Mistletoe. "Who sent this letter? Why is it so fancy?"
"It must be Vizet's sister." Michael was like a sharp-nosed hound, guessing the correct answer at once.
"She sent it." Vizet opened the envelope. Besides a short letter, it contained a small bottle and a Dirigible Plum Pendant.
"What is this?" His dormmates grew even more curious. "A miniature carrot as a Pendant? I've never seen such an unusual gift before!"
Terry asked, "What's inside the bottle? Seeds?"
"Dirigible Plum seeds." Vizet nodded and held up the Pendant as he introduced it. "This is a Dirigible Plum Pendant. It can improve one's ability to accept unusual things."
Anthony frowned. "Dirigible Plum? Improving one's ability to accept unusual things? Can it keep me awake during History of Magic?"
"Professor Binns's lessons possess a special kind of magic." Vizet smiled. "If you adapt to his tone, you'll definitely gain something from them."
"As for the Dirigible Plum's special effect, Luna told me it varies from person to person. At least for me, the Dirigible Plum's effect is outstanding."
Terry looked eager to try. "Then will you plant these seeds? We could try it too when the time comes!"
Michael immediately teased him. "Perhaps you also need a skillful sister who can help you make a Pendant..."
Vizet paid no attention to his dormmates' bickering. His thoughts were all on Luna's Reply Letter.
Luna's Reply Letter was simple, introducing her day in a gentle, unhurried manner.
She had harvested Dirigible Plums in the garden, tasted sweet Chocolate Frogs, and drawn a picture in her bedroom...
She also mentioned Xenophilius's praise of him, as well as that Dirigible Plum Pendant, hoping it would bring him inspiration.
Vizet hung the Pendant around his neck. As he looked at the blushing Dirigible Plum, his thoughts seemed to cross the Scottish Highlands and return to that garden filled with strange Magical Plants...
There was another Transfiguration class that afternoon, and Ravenclaw had class together with Gryffindor.
When Vizet entered the classroom, he saw quite a few Gryffindors standing beside the lectern.
Taking advantage of Professor McGonagall's absence, they pulled out all the stops to tease the Tabby Cat on the lectern.
They laughed and played around, but they still failed to provoke the slightest reaction from the Tabby Cat.
Vizet frowned. When he saw the Tabby Cat, he felt a strange sense of familiarity, as if he had seen it somewhere before.
Soon, he remembered that an identical cat had appeared when he faced the Runespoor. That cat had actually been Professor McGonagall in disguise.
Seeing the lively atmosphere among the Gryffindors, his dormmates also wanted to join in the fun, so Vizet hurriedly called them back.
Anthony sat in his seat, still watching the Tabby Cat. "Don't you like cats? That cat's markings are beautiful, especially the black patches around its eyes. They look just like spectacles!"
Vizet explained, "This isn't an ordinary cat, but..."
Before he could finish, the loud class bell rang.
The Tabby Cat, which had been sitting on the lectern, shifted from stillness into motion. It sprang forward and transformed into a human in midair.
"Professor McGonagall."
"Professor McGonagall!" The Gryffindors shrieked and returned to their seats at top speed.
They pulled serious expressions over their taut faces and sat up straight, trying to bluff their way through it.
Anthony said with lingering fear, "How did you see through it?"
Vizet lowered his voice. "You said it yourself just now. The black patches around its eyes looked like spectacles. Markings like that are very rare."
Professor McGonagall wore a stern expression and said loudly, "Perhaps in your eyes, Transfiguration is like a cat that can be teased at will without any consequences."
"However, in truth... it is the most complex and dangerous magic you can encounter at school. I do not want you to be injured because of it, or even lose your lives."
"Anyone who wants to misbehave in class will leave this place forever! That is to keep them from suffering an accident because of their arrogance. You must remember this!"
She saw the students nodding repeatedly, and only then did she soften her tone. "As your first Transfiguration class, the thing you most need to master is not a spell, but caution."
"Treat Transfiguration with caution. Even if its outward appearance is merely that of a cat, you must still be on your guard, lest it turn into the thing you fear most."
"That is enough admonishment for now. Turn to page four of A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration. We will begin by learning the techniques for casting Transfiguration..."
Transfiguration was indeed a complex subject.
Although Vizet had copied A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration into a complete volume, he still only had a vague understanding of its contents.
At times like this, an excellent guide was especially important, and Professor McGonagall was precisely such a guide.
Drawing on her own experience, she broke down the contents of the textbook. The abstruse and obscure theories of Transfiguration were no longer so difficult to understand.
Half the class passed. Professor McGonagall finished explaining the theory from the basics upward and officially moved on to practical exercises.
She handed every student in the classroom a match. Their task was simple—transform the match into a needle.
After enduring half a class of theoretical knowledge, the students eagerly began practicing.
The classroom was filled with the chaotic sounds of incantations.
Just as Professor McGonagall had said, Transfiguration might look as cute as a cat, but in reality it could be extremely difficult and dangerous.
After a burst of colorful Magical Light, the matches in front of some students erupted with loud bangs, instantly exploding into countless sparks that flew in every direction.
Professor McGonagall reacted swiftly, waving her Wand and transforming the scattered sparks into small birds.
The birds gave melodious calls, circled once above the classroom, and then vanished without a trace.
"Focus! Be cautious!" Professor McGonagall shouted. "Your goal needs to be clearer! Imagine the needle's shape, size, and texture!"
This effortless display of Transfiguration greatly increased the students' enthusiasm for practice.
Before long, Professor McGonagall inspected the desk where Vizet was sitting.
She had noticed from the beginning that Vizet had not cast a spell right away. Instead, he had closed his eyes and begun imagining.
As if sensing Professor McGonagall's gaze, Vizet opened his eyes.
Through his earlier bout of imagination, he had formed a sufficiently clear image. Now he only needed the assistance of the spell.
"Transfiguration Mastery!"
