Background / History

Luna is the daughter of Xenophilius and Pandora Lovegood. Pandora, described as a great witch and a historian who researched ancient magic, died in a magical accident while experimenting with an incantation; Luna witnessed the accident, and many of Pandora's notebooks were lost. Xenophilius explained Pandora's death to the young Luna as her going to the moon to find Moon Frogs. 4 162 1101

Her maternal great-grandmother was Nora Treadwell, a gifted researcher of Merlin's ruins who left behind Ancient Magic-imbued research materials. Luna later receives Nora's photo album and research notes from the Treadwell family. 1185 1737

She grew up at the Lovegood residence in Ottery St Catchpole, a cylindrical black castle with a large garden of magical plants. Much of her early life was spent tending the garden, collecting dew, caring for plants, and playing with its magical creatures. 4

Luna first meets Vizet at St. Mungo's Hospital.
