Vizet explained, "Professor McGonagall asked me to find some information related to 'Animagus.' I'm not planning to practice that magic."
"So it was Professor McGonagall!" Madam Pince said flatly. "'Metamorphic Transfiguration Theory' is in the Transfiguration section, on the seventh row of the 103rd bookshelf."
She added one more sentence, this time in a much sterner tone: "Remember, don't scribble all over it!"
The library had been expanded countless times by magic. Its Potions and Transfiguration sections were two of the larger categories, occupying a vast area.
The entire library contained thousands upon thousands of bookshelves and hundreds of narrow passageways, filled with countless books of every kind.
This was Vizet's first time venturing deep into the library.
Many of the library's books were ancient. They were even more unruly than the books at Flourish and Blotts; some of them could even talk.
Some books muttered in obscure, incomprehensible voices. Some suddenly let out a howl, while others whispered words of temptation...
"#@*?%&!..."
"Ah! All you mongrels! Defiling Hogwarts! Magic belongs to the Pure-blood Family!"
"Open me... Power is beckoning you! With me, you can have everything! Escape death!"
Vizet wasn't frightened by this. Instead, he found it extremely interesting and even released his Magic Eye to observe.
Sure enough, as a place that had existed since the founding of the school, the library naturally contained a vast amount of Ancient Magic Power.
Although he had only walked along this one path, the Ancient Magic Power he gained was still considerable—enough to turn the next page of the Wizard Combat Guide.
"Ancient Magic: Throwing Mastery": Master Ancient Magic Power and conceal it within an object. When the object strikes its target, the Ancient Magic Power will erupt.
Judging from the description, this was an offensive ability with a certain degree of concealment, allowing it to catch opponents off guard.
Vizet stopped where he was and first began digesting and understanding the ability.
He discovered that Throwing Mastery was far from simple, because it could be used in conjunction with other magic.
Combined with the Summoning Charm, it could summon nearby objects to attack. Combined with Transfiguration, it could directly create objects to throw...
Ancient Magic Power could even be treated as "fuel" to increase the flying speed of thrown objects, producing an unexpected effect—much like the nitrous acceleration in those flying-car games.
Most importantly, this ability could still produce a certain effect even with his bare hands.
If he had possessed this ability in his previous life, he could have considered becoming a shot-putter, basketball player, or baseball player.
Vizet gently shook his head and said quietly, "But I prefer magic."
After the Ancient Magic Power was gone, those strange voices weakened considerably, becoming as faint as mosquitoes.
Vizet continued forward. It took him about five minutes to reach the bookshelf Madam Pince had mentioned.
Vizet found "Metamorphic Transfiguration Theory." The book had a pitch-black cover, with an incredibly complex pattern outlined in gold leaf.
The pattern gave him a strong sense of déjà vu of the "Vitruvian Man."
The "Vitruvian Man" was a work by Da Vinci, depicting a man standing with his body arranged in the shape of a cross and a Chinese character for "fire."
This pattern was even more complicated. Between the circle and rectangle, it contained countless anatomical diagrams of various animals.
Vizet could only recognize some of the more familiar forms among them, such as pigs, dogs, cows, sheep, lions, tigers, and elephants.
When he opened the book, the first thing that caught his eye wasn't the prologue, but a line of floating text formed from magic:
No scribbling in the book! Not even Headmaster Dumbledore is exempt! Left by Irma Pince.
Vizet gave a soft laugh. Leaving behind such a message was completely in keeping with Madam Pince's attitude toward her books.
The magical writing changed, becoming another string of words:
It's true. When I was writing annotations, this book actually flew up and smacked me on the head. It hurt quite a bit, so you'd better be careful. Left by Albus Dumbledore.
Vizet almost laughed aloud, but he was still somewhat puzzled. Would Dumbledore really leave behind a message like this?
The Dumbledore he had encountered was a kind and amiable old man.
Vizet found it difficult to imagine that such an old man would leave behind words so playful.
Driven by his desire to learn the contents of the book itself, he didn't dwell on it any longer. Instead, he reached out and lifted the page.
As soon as his hand touched the page, the magical writing vanished completely, and the true prologue appeared.
Metamorphic Transfiguration was a topic capable of sparking debate among wizards. Many wizards insisted that they could change their own essence, allowing their Transfiguration to reach a new peak...
As someone passionate about getting to the bottom of things, after interacting with these wizards, I discovered a sorrowful truth—they didn't even understand themselves, yet believed they had achieved growth and transcendence...
In this book, I will serve as a guide, leading you to deconstruct yourselves, recognize your essence, and even deconstruct all things. I hope this will allow you to go farther along the path of Transfiguration...
After reading the prologue, Vizet was deeply captivated. He eagerly turned to the next page.
The book contained not only the author's insights. In the blank spaces, there were also annotations meant to express various opinions.
By combining the insights with the annotations, he felt that he had gained a deeper understanding of Transfiguration.
Vizet even developed a vague idea—that there was a path of Transfiguration belonging uniquely to him.
Now he had reason to believe that the second passage of magical writing at the beginning really might have been left by Headmaster Dumbledore.
"Focus... Begin with the thing you're most familiar with... Relax... Don't let pressure control you. Search for a place of remembrance..."
Vizet read while trying it out. He pulled out a strand of hair and placed it on the ground, while a familiar garden surfaced in his mind.
The tip of his Wand hovered above the hair. "Transfiguration Mastery!"
The hair rapidly grew larger before transforming into a palm-sized bookmark shaped like a leaf.
Vizet compared it with the book's deconstruction diagram and refined the details of the bookmark. Its color became a more vivid green, and its veins grew more distinct, making it look just like a real leaf...
He suddenly experienced a feeling like that of a creator. It seemed as though he could truly create something from thin air.
He seemed to hear Luna's voice beside his ear: "There needs to be a wish..."
"My wish is for it to truly become a leaf!" Vizet murmured. His Wand radiated a verdant light that engulfed the leaf-shaped bookmark.
A branch appeared in Vizet's mind, with several lush green leaves attached to its stump, giving off a faint Sandalwood fragrance...
His imagination became reality. The leaf-shaped bookmark spread outward, its texture growing soft and tender, its color becoming ever more vibrant with Life Force. It even began to grow a branch, little by little...
"Vizet! Vizet!" Just then, Anthony suddenly reached out and shook him, rousing Vizet from his immersion in the book.
"Hurry up! If we're any later, there might not be anything left to eat in the Great Hall. We're also going to watch the Quidditch tryouts this afternoon!"
