An Unexpected Move

Mad-Eye Moody clearly knew the woman in the thick smoke, but he understood even better that Bertha Jorkins's appearance here most likely meant she was being controlled by Voldemort.

"Attack!" he roared. "Stupefy!"

Bertha Jorkins waved her wand, and a sheet of dark green light spewed from its tip, turning into a mist-like magical energy field that protected her.

Mad-Eye Moody jabbed his wand forward, stabbing out a red light like plasma.

The red light slammed straight into the mist-like magical energy field. Ripples spread across the field, and the red light was bounced back.

"This isn't Bertha Jorkins's level of magic..." Mad-Eye Moody swung his wand and knocked the returning red light away.

His magical eye spun wildly, and he made his judgment about Bertha Jorkins's condition. "She's possessed... Voldemort, that bastard!"

Hearing Mad-Eye Moody's curse, Voldemort controlled Bertha Jorkins into raising her wand and casting the magic he was most practiced in. "Avada Kedavra!"

Voldemort was Mad-Eye Moody's old opponent. Facing the grim green light rushing toward him, Mad-Eye Moody immediately slammed down his cane and dodged the Killing Curse by the narrowest of margins;

"You son of a bitch!" After adjusting his position, he even had time to curse before raising his wand and aiming at Bertha Jorkins again. "Bombarda!"

It was not only Mad-Eye Moody's Blasting Curse. Vizet and the others would not simply stand by and watch either. They waved their wands and cast spells together.

A rainbow of magic flew toward Voldemort one after another. With a violent fluctuation, that layer of mist-like magical energy field vanished completely.

Among them was also a Cutting Curse. After the mist-like magical energy field disappeared, it still retained some power and flew toward the hand with which Bertha Jorkins held her wand.
