Background / History
Outsiders coined the name Digital Phantom after Qu Jianlei’s team became notorious in the Black Zone. Their repeated digital-warfare operations made their technical specialty impossible to conceal, while their mysterious composition supplied the “Phantom” half of the name. Within just over a month, they became one of the Black Zone’s five major forces, though not its largest. 1181
Their early Black Zone activities centered on locating Magical Artifacts and capturing starships. Their acquisition of a Bright Family Magical Artifact drew wider attention and helped increase the market value of such artifacts. 1227
The team later built a reputation for negotiating assistance in return for Magical Artifacts, materials, or information. They consistently insisted on clear terms, often demanding payment or the promised artifact before accepting a task. 1230 1346
As their strength became known, the Empire, Alliance, and Federation increasingly treated them as a major independent force. The Empire recognized their usefulness against foreign enemies but remained wary of their technology, military strength, and lack of political subordination. 1379 1650 1731
Digital Phantom eventually became heavily involved in the war against the Asura. Their operations in the Asura World were initially obscure, but alien captives later revealed that the team had caused severe disruption there. Their anti-alien record became influential enough to contribute to reconciliation among the Empire, Federation, and Alliance. 1856 2285
Reputation
- Known for exceptional digital warfare, including the paralysis of enemy warship systems. 1181 1237
- Feared for an elusive operational style; opponents often cannot determine their location, methods, or full membership. 1545 1735
- Widely associated with the collection and effective use of Magical Artifacts. 1227 1414
- Respected by many Military personnel for repeated victories against the Alliance, Federation forces, and alien races. 1305 1524 1565
- Considered unpredictable and dangerous by governments and hostile organizations when provoked. 1644 1692
- Their insignia became a widely recognized symbol; civilians in all three human states have painted it on starships as a form of hope or prayer. 2285
Capabilities
Digital Warfare and Artificial Intelligence
Digital Phantom is distinguished by digital combat systems and AI-supported coordination.
- Their digital warfare gave the team its name and repeatedly disabled or paralyzed opposing ship systems. 1181 1237
- AI coordination allows a level of cooperation that ordinary human crews cannot replicate. 1522
- In starship warfare, their individual combat ability combined with AI support is regarded as a “BUG-like” advantage. 1524
- The team provided the Empire with customized AI fragments under conditions, including a two-year expiration period. 1569
- Their own AI defenses were developed to resist hostile artificial intelligence intrusion. 1855
Magical Artifacts and Mystical Methods
The team possesses and pursues numerous Magical Artifacts, while guarding the methods used to control them.
- Their demand for Magical Artifacts helped ignite a broader market frenzy for them. 1227 1545
- They are known to use Magical Artifacts in combat at a level that alarmed the Alliance and Federation. 1414
- Their artifact arsenal includes methods capable of long-range Destroyer-Class attacks. 1594
- They possess formations including the Five Elements Battle Array and Three Powers Array, as well as friend-or-foe Identification Badges. 1252
- They use Divination to trace missing persons, identify hidden threats, and support major decisions. 1499 1642
- Their methods for controlling Magical Artifacts remain closely guarded, even from powerful negotiators. 1256
Stealth, Mobility, and Teleportation
Digital Phantom’s movements are difficult to track, prompting persistent speculation about their mobility methods.
- The team has used Teleportation Arrays and keeps their samples and workings confidential. 1376
- They have demonstrated stealth and transit capabilities that observers compare to Near-Earth Jump or Above Supreme techniques. 1545 1735
- Their ability to appear and disappear without warning is central to their “Phantom” reputation. 1550 1857
- They can deploy large numbers of warships from storage, including more than a dozen Battalion-Class ships at once. 1735
Anti-Alien Operations
Fighting alien races is the team’s declared overriding priority.
- Digital Phantom states that it will not ignore matters involving resistance to foreign enemies, while leaving professional military work to formal forces. 1380
- They fought extensively in the Asura World, where their actions significantly disrupted the Asura. 1856 2285
- They captured and released an Asura Mother Nest during joint Empire–Federation operations. 1754
- Their combat achievements against alien races became known across all three human states, despite many details remaining secret. 2285
