The moment I stepped through, the entire scene changed.

I appeared at the entrance to a small village.

I was certain there was a small village not far ahead.

It simply showed no sign of life.

When I looked behind me, no one was there. Ye Jinghong, Jiang Xiaohui, and the others had not followed me. Or perhaps they had entered the door but had been sent somewhere else.

Qianqian had said that entering the Burial Ground resulted in random teleportation. Even she could not be sure where one would be sent.

Not a single person could be seen in the village.

Every house had its doors and windows shut tight.

It was like an abandoned village.

There were no lights, much less any kitchen smoke.

Everything was deathly silent.

I wandered through the village alone, wondering whether I should push open the door of one of the houses and see if I could learn anything.

I came to the door of a house and lightly knocked twice. To my surprise, the door opened by itself, revealing a narrow crack two fingers wide.

"Is anyone there?" I pushed the door
