I was beginning to doubt the Mad Doctor's true purpose in bringing me to Strange City.
Could meeting Bai Niangzi have been something he had planned from the start? Or perhaps he had some kind of connection with Bai Niangzi and the others.
But that did not seem right either. If that were the case, I should not have been the only one coming to see Bai Niangzi. He should have come along too.
I gave a light cough, then asked, "Why did you ask to see me?"
I did not bother with too much politeness and went straight to the point.
It was not that I lacked patience, but I disliked constantly beating around the bush and trying to guess what others were thinking.

I said calmly, "I would not call myself straightforward. I am simply wondering what exactly you want from me."
Bai Niangzi sighed. "There is indeed something I would like to trouble Mr. Jiang with. I would like you to help me find someone."
I froze for a moment. I had not expected her to want me to help find someone.
Then the person she wanted to find should be in our world.
And if they truly were Underground Lizardmen, then the person she sought should also be one of them.
