Seeing the way I looked at her, she said coldly, "I wasn't deliberately eavesdropping on you. I just happened to reach the door and heard what you were saying. Besides, there's nothing that can't be said openly. Since we're a team, information should naturally be shared, shouldn't it?"
I nodded. There was indeed nothing wrong with what she said.
"Then it's settled. I'll go with you when the time comes."
Zaxi arrived and said the food was ready, telling us to go eat.
When I looked, it really was mealtime again. Time had passed incredibly fast.
After dinner, the sky gradually darkened.
As I walked out of the small cafeteria, I saw Zaxi squatting in the open space outside, smoking.
When he saw me come out, he approached with a smile. "Mr. Jiang, was the food to your liking?"
I said to him, "You put thought into it. It was very good."
Donzhu's smile widened when he heard that. "That's good, that's good. Mr. Jiang, if you need anything, just let me know. I'll do my best to provide it."
"Alright."
After saying that, I was about to leave and return to make preparations before entering the village.
But Donzhu looked like he had something to say. I smiled. "Is something wrong?"
Donzhu gave a light cough. "You're going into the village tonight?"
It was only natural that he knew we were entering the village. As an external field operative for Unit Nine, he had probably learned our purpose in coming to Southern Tibet long ago.
"Yes. What is it? Is there a problem?"
The smile disappeared from his face, and he nodded. "There are ghosts in the village!"
I frowned. "Ghosts?"
He sighed. "Yes, the village is haunted. My
